Gasket material
Do Auto parts stores carry sheets of gasket material. If not, where can you find it. Thanks, Jim M1983 GS 1100 Guided Laser

I got mine at AutoZone. It came in two thicknesses, and came in a roll, which was a PITA. I had to put some books on it to flatten it out.

Thanks. I'm buying a new valve cover gasket and thought I might try to copy it to have a spare. I figure the homemade gaskets should be okay for clutch and stator covers. Is using this for a valve cover likely to be okay. Also, what thickness is appropriate for a valve cover?1983 GS 1100 Guided Laser

I've cut out all kinds of gaskets before, but wouldn't want to do a valve cover due to the complexity and thin sections. If you watch on ebay OE gaskets come up regularly, and often times you can pick them up for cheap.Last edited by Nessism; 08-13-2010, 08:47 AM.Ed
