    rear brake pedal

The brake pedal on my gs400s doesn't seem to be correct. It is too low.
I am wondering if it would be advisable to heat it so it can be bent up a bit.
i don't know what type of metal it is and sure don't want to screw it up.

there are splines that match the grooves in the pedal..take the pedal off and move the notches up one on the spline and that will move the pedal higher or lower. Theres also a bolt with a jam nut..loosen that and reset after you get the pedal where you want it. While your at it put a dab of gerease on the shaft where it passes thru the frame. NO HEAT.. it weakens metals. Also be aware that you have to take the pinch bolt all the way out or the pedal will not slide off the splines.

I would rather trust my bike to a "QUACK" that KNOWS how to fix it rather than a book worm that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix it.

so take it off and index it down a few notches..it works both ways.

It's already as high as it will go, and it's still too low.

How is indexing it down a few notches going to help? It will be EVEN LOWER.

Maybe a picture would be helpful for us. Your pedal may already be damaged/bent if it is already up so high that it touches the footpeg but the end is too low.

I bet it's off a different model and just doesn't fit your bike.
              A picture would be good.
