I went to anneal the existing crush washer I expected to find, but... there isn't one! Is that how it's supposed to go? It looks like a steel bolt in a magnesium housing.

GS650 final drive drain plug- crush washer or no?
Hey everyone. I've solved my final drive oil leak from the breather port, but am dripping from the drain plug.

Steel bolt, crush washer, aluminum housing. No wonder you have a leak. And you don't anneal crush washers, you replace them.Ed
To measure is to know.

# 30 looks to be what you need. The old ones usually "weld" onto the plug.

Thanks for the quick replies. Maybe there's an old one stuck on the plug, but I didn't see it. So, aluminum, not copper? I'm used to crush washers on car FI systems. A few times, when I haven't wanted to output the effort to find a new one, I've annealed them and it worked out all right. It's not the right way to do it though.
Looks like 14mm inside diameter, 18mm outside, 1.5mm height, if I'm reading the 14.1X18X1.5 correctly. Oddly, the service manual didn't show or mention the washer.
Happy Rides

From a quick check of Alphasports parts diagram, this is the same washer as the one used for draining oil from secondary gears, may want to pick up a couple to have as a backup for oil changes.
