    Re-install stock cam chain tensioner...

I put a manual Ape version on last summer in the hopes that the stock one was causing the ticking noises at take-off. But, it did not have any effect. So, I think I'm going to put the stock one back on when I pull the carbs to clean them. Seems counterproductive maybe, but since the stock one is fine and operates properly, it would be nice to not have to worry about getting the Ape manual one adjusted properly every once in a while. Any thoughts from the masses?

The stock tensioners rarely cause trouble unless you are racing your bike and/or the tensioner is binding up.

I suggest taking it apart, checking all the pieces and replacing the three seals, plus the gasket. Bwinger has a writeup on what seal part numbers to order. Easy stuff.

Thanks guys, but there was no visible trouble with the stock one before. No leaks or anything.

Maintenance is good. No reason to wait for problems to occur when $10 in parts will avoid future problems.
