Proper Routing of Speedo Cable on GS850?

My speedo cable got hung up on the steering stops on the tripple tree and snapped the flex. I have a new cable and don't want it to break again, and I suspect the broken one wasn't routed correctly.

Can someone describe, or post a picture of, the correct routing for the speedo cable?

    I'd appreciate it.

    Thanks,

The factory service manual details how to route the cables. If you don't have a factory manual Basscliff hosts them for free download or go to http://www.repairmanualclub.com/moto...dex.php?cid=10

      Which model and year?

All we know is GS850 -- we need to know whether it's a G or GL, and there are detail differences between the years, too.

These pic's should be easy enough to follow for your '80 850G:

I am pretty certain that you don't require a picture from the last one
through the fender loop or through the axle loop to the speedo hub.
