'80 550L- Rear Brake Pads
Just checked my rear brake pads as I've been hearing some serious squealing from the rear wheel, even when not applying the brake. They look like they are seriously worn down. I don't have the ability to do a technical determination (percentage or measurement) but they look like crap.

Google search: "brake pads 1980 Suzuki GS550L" ... http://www.compacc.com/p/EBC-Brake-P...-GS550-ET-1980Ed

Thanks Ed- I guess I was a bit reticent because I have a 550L (not ET), and the pads I have on my bike don't resemble those they are selling (but now I see something that says "actual pads not pictured").
I guess I'm wondering why there isn't a spec or part number for these pads so that I could go to a manufacturer's website to find them.

FA36 is the correct EBC number for the rear pads.
As far as comparing part numbers between models, please check this link... http://www.alpha-sports.com/suzuki_parts.htm
You can look up all the different part numbers, between different models, years, etc., to see if they are the same.
BTW, just about all the Suzuki's used those same FA36 pad size, not just the 550's.
Ebay is also a good place to find brake pads. Try searching on "FA36" and you will get lots of hits...like this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/EBC-B...item45fb62488bLast edited by Nessism; 06-24-2011, 06:26 PM.Ed

Thanks for the help Nessism! Just wanted to post that I got the pads, and after struggling with the fit (thick layer of paint on the sides, indicated by other reviews) I got them in, and they are perfect. Brake squealing has subsided. Further- when I compared my old pads to my new ones i was... terrified.
Thanks also to BassCliff for his tutorial on changing brake pads- clear and super helpful!!!
