    Odd forks on my bike!

I thought I had a matching pair of forks until we noticed that the caliper on one side was not low enough to properly contact the disc! The mounts for the caliper on one fork are slightly higher than on the other! So how can I identify the forks... what bikes they are from? If I can identify the correct one I can set about sorting the problem either by finding another one, or buying a pair that match!
I assumed they were 1979 GS750 forks as the bike is 750, but are GS1000 or 850 forks the same as 750?.... would they fit? Or even forkd from a GSX???

Bike has been converted to single disc temporarily but I want to get it twin again as soon as I can.

Just guessing one fork is from the single disk, the other is from a dual disk fork

          Ditto

The single brake bikes have a larger disc, and a higher mount

Let me guess, the higher mount is on the left fork tube

Why didn't I think of that?!!!!
I will take a closer look at it when I get the bike back this week (still in workshop 20 miles away).
Will have a lot more details then.
            Thanks for all the replies.
