      Could be lots of things, so +1 on the back to basics recommendation.

      If I had to bet money, I would say worn valve seals burning up your oil, wich fouled your plugs and dropped your oil level, wich sent fume and smoke in the carbs through the breather, wich gummed your carbs.

        My guess is , new rider new to him bike dirty carbs , bike running on 2 cylinders only and didn't know the differance.
