Replace kick start oil seal when pulling clutch cover?

    Hey everyone,
I am planning to replace the clutch springs in my 77 GS400, hopefully while the weather is still decent. I thought I had everyhting: New OEM springs-check; new OEm clutch cover gasket - check.
.... but I was just thinking ...what is the likelihood that I'll need to also replace the kick starter oil seal? The current one seems fine, no leaks (well the area has a light oily film, so maybe it has a very mild weep. no drips ever, tho) ... but Im sure that it is original, 34 years old.

I imagine that If Im fairly careful when removing the cover and dont mangle the seal, it'll be fine, but Murphy's law is known to be a bitch.
Is this considered to be a part that one should expect to replace when pulling the cover (like a gasket?)

if it dosent leak then its not necessary, just be carefull on removal and replacement of cover. a smear of grease around the seal lip will help replacement. however, if you are fussy then, for the cost of a new seal it wont hurt to replace it while you got the cover off

Just remember, an opinion without 3.14 is just an onion!
