1980 GS 550 E and L model differences

I have an E model and need parts, Carbs, disc's, calipers etc......a local guy has an L model ,of the same year, that has most of the parts I am looking for. Anyone know if the differences between the 2 models are just cosmetic? Like tanks, fenders, seats and such.

The only mechanical differences are the size of the rear wheel and the leading-axle fork and related brake and fender parts. The control cables are longer, also. My '78 550E came with an L rear wheel, which fits fine.
