    Question about torque spec range.

When I look in a service manual it gives me a very wide range for torque specs (sometimes as much as 33%!) on chassis fasteners... Why is that?

Do you install using the low number then re-torque to high number?
Is the low number a re-torque spec?
Do you just pick a number in between and call it good?

    Anywhere within range is acceptable.
I tend to go towards the high side as I am a bit abusive to my scooters.

There may be a tech answer to why there is such a range in torque setting but I don't know it. What I do know is that by using the lower range of torque settings, as the threads wear you can go up through the settings and this will give years of service from the bolts and threads. Just my two bobs worth, cheers.
