I've spent 58 yrs. fighting with SAE, Whitworth and CEI fasteners so don't accuse me of being lazy but I was wondering if anyone had put together a list of Allen head screws for all the covers on a GS450. A complete set in a bag would be even better. I could go into Houston and get them at the wholesalers but emailing them a list and having them sent back by UPS is more appealing. And the Administrator should award at least 2 gold stars to the first guy who identifies the CEI thread!

Z1 sells stainless screw kits to replace those on the engine covers. One stop shopping.

Niels, the kits are on their website, only they are hard to find. Try searching...or just call if you would rather.

There's a few kits on E-bay for the GS450. Perhaps one in this bunch will be what you're looking for, alot of sets to choose from. Believe the one for your bike will start at the bottom of the first page. Don't know if all of what you need is in the kit, but I think it might be worth a look.

Z1 all the way for me, and I find it easier to go Parts by Model and drill down from there.

I find it a lot easier to just call Z1 and speak to a person. They always pick up and they have a lot more stuff than they list on the web. And they know their stuff, too.

Thanks to all you guys. I did call Z1 and they were most helpfull. As soon as I confirm the engine # on my GS, I'm ordering the hardware package.

Sedelen.........Thanks for the heads up on the ebay listings for the fasteners. I wondered why they were half the price of the kits at Z1. Then I realized that the kit at Z1 was all screws while the ones on ebay were half washers. Any good boat store will have 300series stainless washers cheap. Just remember to always carry one of your wifes refrigerator magnets when shopping for stainless hardware. For example there are three grades of SS screw clamps. The cheap ones found at W ally World and Auto parts stores have carbon steel screws. So in short order you will have a shiny clamp with a rusty screw. The second grade ar SS clamps with 400 series screws and often advertsed as all stainless. While this is true, 400 series will rust some(especially in coastal environments) but not as bad as 300 series screws. This is when the magnet comes in handy. The carbon steel screws are very magnetic and the 400 seres screws are to a lesser degree. The 300 series stainless is non-magnetic. You will pay more for them but you will never replace them and they will obviously look better.
