I've finally got ALL of the electrical bugs worked out to include installing a new indicator panel (due to the old one being hacked up by the P/O). Phew! Glad thats behind me. I also cleaned up the fuse block, which helped immensely. It appears that the light for 3rd gear is burnt out as t is getting power to the 3rd gear wire, but I can live with this one.
I've moved on to removing the valve cover in preparations to doing the valve adjustment. I'm waiting on my tappet set and new valve cover gasket to arrive.
I pulled the plugs to see what they looked like in their current state. Not bad looking. Maybe slight signs of a lean mixture. What do u think? I have new NGKs waiting to be installed after my tune up.
It looks as if the previous owner removed the stock air filter assembly? Am I correct, anyone have a spare set up? The air box is still there, but the two middle boots to the box are missing their clamps. My intake boots are still rubbery feeling so I'm hoping they are still good. We will see when I pull the carbs.
I've ordered o-rings for my carb cleaning, which is next on the list after I finish up the valve adjustment. I also have the oil pan removed right now due to the gasket leaking. I'm going to do the oil pressure mod with the washers while I've got it opened up. Any thing else I should be looking at while I've got her ripped back open?
Luckily it has cooled back down here for a few days so my anxiousness to ride has subsided for now.
