    use brake rebuild kit, or just new brake seal?

    I'm going to have to rebuild the front brake caliper, the piston must be sticking because now that I have it back on and the fluid replaced, it's slightly gripping the rotor.

    Me and my dad rebuilt the caliper on his CB750 last year and we only replaced the seal. So I'm wondering, do I really need to buy the $30 rebuild kit, or could I get away with just buying the seal and cleaning?

    Open it up and look at it first. If the piston looks good just buy the two seals; if not, get the kit.

      Did you rebuild or at least strip and clean the master cylinder? If the pressure return port in that is plugged up with crap, the caliper will not let go and as the fluid heats up, it will eventually lock up... You really should tear the whole system down. Cutting corners on the parts that stop you from eating car grill isn't a good idea...
