    Speedo/Tach

    1977 GS550 sat for 32 years...running gr8....speedo and tach sluggish...not working....cables working, im thinking gummed up in the actual meters?? any way to lube them and get them operating without tearing them into pieces??

    Remove them. Turn them upside down a spray some good penetrating type oil in the threaded nipples. (yup, I said nipples)
    Leave them to soak in for an hour and respray a time or two.
    Synthetic penetrating oil is best.

      I use the Triflow (with teflon on mine) works great. Though if the magnets are weak, they are shot.

      Stuff I've done to my bike:dancing: 1100E front end with new Sonic springs, 1100E swing arm conversion with new Progressive shocks installed, 530 sprockets/chain conversion, new SS brake lines, new brake pads. New SS fasteners through out. Rebuilt carbs, new EBC clutch springs and horn installed. New paint. Motor runs strong.

        Yeap oil them. I used WD40, its all I had at the time.
