Hey guys! I just bought my first bike! It's a 1978 GS550, but its about an inch too tall for me. I'd really like to not mess with the suspension, so I was interested in lowering it through cutting some of the foam on the seat.
However, the seat I have has extensive rust around the edges, and my upholstery shop told me they couldn't reattach a new seat onto the bike because the metal on the edges was so corroded. They recommended finding a seat with less rust for a re-cover, or an aftermarket seat that was shorter.
I've been looking around online and haven't been able to spot an exact replacement for my seat. It's a flat bench seat with hinges on the left side and seat locking mechanism on the right.
Do any of you guys know if any seats from other years would work for my bike, or of any aftermarket seats that would fit? I'd also be open to any other suggestions or places to look.
