Take a look at these exhuast valve's

So I drop the exhaust to repair a broken flange bolt. I'm looking at the valve's and 3 of them are all sooty and black. I guess that's to be expected. Should I do any thing about that, or is it normal.

But. On #2 cylinder, it is very white looking. What does that mean. I haven't got my head in there far enough to tell if it's corrosion or not.

    Please advise. Thanks.

That is what they should look like.

So you're saying the white one is correct??

So then should I try to do anything to the black one's.

Look ok to me, black is a bit rich, exhaust valves should be tan to off white, they run at 1450 degrees C bugger all survives those temps, least of all soot, which is what the black stuff is.

I'm going to echo the others and say the white is normal
