    Conversion to electric?!

I have always wanted an all electric bike. Im not sure yet if I want to convert an already existing bike to electric ( perhaps save an old barn GS) or to buy one of those newfangled zeros.

Unfortunatly though, It will take me ~ 6 years to save up for a Zero at my current pay rate . Well at least the technology can go far in those 6 years.

Have any of you ever thought about converting one to electric?

It's been done before, but I don't know how hard it would be.

I imagine the weight comparison between our old beasts and new frames would make it a little more difficult.

I think the big expense though would be the controller to stop the torque from an electric motor throwing you backwards over the rear wheel. Apparently that's the biggest issue with them...

There was a guy making an electric bike with an old cb750 frame on www.dotheton.com, but he had to sell it off due to financial reasons I think.
