    What do you think about these swingarm bearings?

    My old girl "Big Red" is ready for a new rear tire, & I figured I should replace both the rear wheel & swingarm bearings...

    Check out the pic of the swingarm bearings - what a PITA to get them out. After 31 years of abuse, they were beyond toast!!

    Ordered a new set of OEM ones, should be in tomorrow.

    I ended up "borrowing" a 1" dia hardened steel bar from work to "push" them out with. After about 5-6 good whacks each, they finally relented & broke free...

      No problem.

      You can buff those out, give them a couple squirts of WD-40 and at least finish out the summer with them.

      Save the new bearings for your winter tear-down and maintenance session.

          Be sure and get new bushings to go with those new bearings

              If you are feeling extravagant and are splashing out on new ones, how much for your slightly shop soiled ones????

                So yesterday I pressed in new OEM swingarm bearings... quite a difference, the swingarm now actually "swings" up & down without staying in one spot - must be why it's called a "swingarm"

                Also replaced the rear wheel bearings with a set from All-Balls, nice and smooth !!

                Had a new Shinko 230 Tourmaster (130/90-17) mounted as well.

                Just heading out to the shed to adjust the chain, then a test ride to judge the difference...

                    Good grief, mine have have over 50k on them and look great, maintenance, maintenance, maintenance folks.

                    Stuff I've done to my bike:dancing: 1100E front end with new Sonic springs, 1100E swing arm conversion with new Progressive shocks installed, 530 sprockets/chain conversion, new SS brake lines, new brake pads. New SS fasteners through out. Rebuilt carbs, new EBC clutch springs and horn installed. New paint. Motor runs strong.

                      They go one the chain side first do they not?
                      The lube and cleaners mus eat the seals
                      once it starts nothing really can stop it.
