    Valve spring compressor

I want to change the springs in my 1982 GS1100E. I see all kinds of valve spring compressors out there and don't know which ones will work and which ones won't. What are the stock valve sizes? How big does the c clamp have to be?

    Thanks for any help,

    Jerry

I used a c clamp for a while, found it to be quite a pita. Found a cheap spring compressor on ebay and it works great.
Stock valve sizes on that bike is 23mm ex and 27mm in

Yup. I have one just like it.
Why Mickey Mouse around with a piece of PVC pipe when the CORRECT tool is so cheap and EASY TO USE?

Yup, same one i have. Works great. I think it might work on 2 valve engines as well with the adapters.

Wish I knew about these cheap tools when I did my valves last year. Every compressor I saw was $100+. Used the 8" (IIRC) C-Clamp with an old deep socket that I notched out.

I used a c-clamp,with a spark plug socket i ground the sides off from. And alot of cussing to make it work right.Don't ask me how i know, but the cussing seems to be needed for operation.
