    WHite creamy substance comming out of the gearbox...

    As the title says, there's a white creamy substance comming out of the gearbox instead of oil when i wanted to change the oil.... it's a GS1100gk '82 with shaft drive.

    I presume it's water that infiltrated in the gearbox and mixed itself trough the oil, but that much?

    What are your thoughts?

    it is condensation in the box. make sure the breather is clear, flush out the box and refill with fresh oil
    1978 GS1085.

        petrol, kerosene, engine flush any thing really that will wash it all out

            Then take it for a nice long ride to get all that condensation heated up and vented out

              Yep. Mayonnaise means you need to ride more.

                Most likely the breather is gunked.
                Bike sit outside?
                Could be water seeping through a old seal on oil cap.
                Water seeping through threads on spark plug.
                Check when first starting bike (cool engine) same way check for a leaky tire, spray with soapy water and look for bubbles from pressure exiting running motor.

                  that wouldnt happen, water is to viscous to work its way down spark plug threads, even if it did it wouldnt end up in the gearbox it would sit in the combustion chamber and probably give you a hydraulic lock up when starting the bike up

                    Thought it could be a possibility I had the same thing happen and my one plug seems to work loose now and then.
                    Consulted a friend long before I found this forum and he suggested the breather also.
                    I reamed the hose and elbow and never had the problem again but I haven,t had the bike outside in the rain without a hot motor and uncovered so the spark plug theory which was one of mine was never put to the test.

                      Maybe someone pressure washed the engine and blasted the secondary drive cavity full of water though the breather?

                              How long has that oil been in there?

                              Original oil from the factory?

                              And has it been parked outside a lot? There will be more condensation if it has.

                              Is the hose on the vent securely?


                              Life is too short to ride an L.
