    Interchangable speedo drives

    Hello,

First time on here, and was wondering if i could get some help. I have a 1981 Suzuki GS550L. The speedo drive just went bad and im having some trouble finding one for that year. So, i was wondering if anyone knew which other years and model bikes have parts that can be interchangeable with my bike.

    Thanks

I am sorry that the pagination gets messed up but the 32 models that your bike shares its speedo box with - The pieces that picks up the rotation of the front wheel.

            I deskewed it a bit
Odd numbers are actual cc's of the bike's engine.

numbers don't always tell the story.
post a picture or 3 of your speedo drive and i will tell you what i know.
i believe i have a large box of common speedo drives.
the odd balls are the bikes with 16" front wheels.

                  nope,
if you pull the speedo off take a picture of inside and outside.
i believe its the really common one like rusty jeep showed.

Looks like it just needs a good cleaning. My bike uses that same one, it is a very common on alot of GS bikes. They are fairly easy to take apart and clean and regrease.

New SS fasteners through out. Rebuilt carbs, new EBC clutch springs and horn installed. New paint. Motor runs strong.

internal or external threads where the cable attaches?

The threads are on the inside of the speedo drive.

Also, when I took the drive off and spun the part that attaches to the wheel, nothing happened at the end where the speedometer cable goes
