    is this brake set up ok?

    Hi all,
    Now, im building a old school Chopper for a customer and he's got 30inch over Springer Forks... ( i know, i know, but the customer is always right eh,?)
    He has twin disks up front and wants the main brake hydrolic line to run from the handlebars down to one caliper then with a shorter line, linking up to the other caliper...
    Looks nice but is this an ok way to run the system?

    It's OK, but bleeding that 2nd caliper will be a challenge
    1978 GS 1000 (since new)

      yes that is a perfectly fine set up. a lot of race bikes use that set up, i have also used it on a few of my previous bikes
      1978 GS1085.

        not at all, bleed the left caliper 1st as normal then the right one takes seconds to bleed..

          Thanx, the hydrolic line comes from the resevoir, down to the left hand caliper, then over to yhe right caliper....
          So.... do you mean bleed the first one from the resevoir first (left), or do the end one(right) then the one nearest the resevoir(left) last?

            whichever one has the single line to it, bleed that one first.
            i take it you are going M/C to r/h caliper then r/h caliper to l/h caliper.
            if so bleed the left one first.
            1978 GS1085.

              General rule of thumb: bleed the farthest one first.

                Just don't run the connecting line through the rim.
                1983 GS 1100E w/ 1230 kit, .340 lift Web Cams, Ape heavy duty valve springs, 83 1100 head with 1.5mm oversized SS intake valves, 1150 crank, Vance and Hines 1150 SuperHub, Star Racing high volume oil pump gears, 36mm carebs Dynojet stage 3 jet kit, Posplayr's SSPB, Progressive rear shocks and fork springs, Dyna 2000, Dynatek green coils and Vance & Hines 4-1 exhaust.
                1985 GS1150ES stock with 85 Red E bodywork.

                    Some BMWs use that brake line arrangement, but they don't come with springer forks.
                    What happens when you use all of the front brakes with a long springer?
                    It can't be pretty.
