Seems the most economical way to do this is to find a parts bike with these tidbits on them. I see a lot of GS550's for sale; would these accessories from a 550 shaftie fit a 650? I'm thinking if the frame is the same they should...your thoughts?

farkels from a 550 frame fit on a 650 frame?
Bought a 81 GS650GL (shaft drive) last year just to tinker with....however, the wife loves it! Have gone through and done most of the maintenance, now she wants to add farkels....specifically a backrest, luggage rack, windshield, and highway bar and pegs.

Most of those accessories are adjustable to fit different bikes with little effort. Backrest is a must- can hang lots of dodads off it. If you don't have crash bars, get some - sooner or later the bike will fall over on you. I tried a windshield, but took it off after two days- personally didn't like looks of it. But I have seen some neat looking mini fairings (with sportbike type windscreens) on some gs550's- unable to determine brand or availability.1981 gs650L
