    There is no "magic" involved.

I posted THIS a few months ago to explain exactly how carbs work.

      Thanks, Steve!

My knowledge of carburetion is now much richer than before. Never would have venturied a guess that it was all so simple!

        Re-do #1

Okay -- I noticed a few things I had done wrong as I reviewed the process of installing my carbs..so I toook them back off to start again...

At this poing I KNOW I had the air vent hoses run incorrectly, and the idle speed adjustment screw was 1) not fastened to the carb bowl (duh) and 2) Not screwed in at all.

I checked the bowls and each one is getting fuel - and they are not overflowing - so I feel the floats are correct and the needle seat is fine - I checked the slides and they move easily - Inside each carb was damp with fuel so it's getting in there...

So now the carbs are back on the bench awaiting a proper bench synch and reinstallation for round 2 of trying to start the beast.

Before I removed them I DID get the bike to fire for another 3 seconds or so...I cracked the throttle to wide open and it ran up to high RPMs quickly before it stopped this time...

Maybe Wednesday evening ...or over the weekend...

Nice to see you finally got it going.

Now you need to teach the kid the proper way to start the bike:

Do NOT twist the throttle when using the "choke". (That works for the Wings, too.)

Also, if you are interested in bypassing the "safety" clutch switch, let me know, it's VERY easy to do.
