Does a honda CX-500 (with welded shocks) qualify for this endurance feat?

If it is riged I wouldnt see why not. If they were welded in a fashion that they acted as struts. Think you get more respect from people if it isnt just struted and acually hardtaild, but I dont know for sure. I am popping my cherry or bruising my tant for the first time so just hoping to make it there

Clearly based on the travel plans you have 0 experience riding a hard tail more then 25 miles.

Aside from what was already covered (extra fuel, possible electric issues, etc) I just want to add: take along an extra quart of cycle oil. While your jetting will definitely help to keep the motor cool, running low on oil can cook it even faster. If you do have any electrical problems on the road, the GS500 shares a lot of the same parts and can be found at a lot of bike breakers.

                    Good luck man!

thank you rich. and check and check. plann on bringing extra oil filters and doing a change about half way on the trip as well just to keep her happy. I have put about a 1000 miles on here in the last week and she is not leaking or burning any oil so far. so keeping my figures crossed. Good to know that alot of the 500 parts are swapable. Almost was thinking of buying everything even a motor and have it boxed up and ready to ship so my old lady can over night it to me if need be

I'd like to be a chiropractor, follow along on a Gold Wing towing a trailer with a table on it, charge a fortune to tune them up as they drop.

Do they do Sciatic Nerve replacements yet?
