    GS1000L Kickstand

I have an idea on how I'm going to do this but wanted to see if its been done and maybe get some better ideas. Trying to convert the GS1000L center kickstand into a single sided kickstand. Pictures would be great, and if I get none and figure it out I'll toss some up myself for future reference :P

Also, this is going to be done with the exhaust exiting on the right side instead of having dual exhaust. Kickstand will be on the left.

    Thanks!!

Why would you convert the center stand into a side stand? Having a center stand is pretty important when it comes to doing maintenance on the bike.

I'm not too worried about that. I can always use my cousins motorcycle jack if i need to.

As someone pointed out to me the other day, there are some situations where you may need to park it on the center stand rather than the kick stand.

Just out of curiosity, what happened to the side stand that came with the bike?

Didn't have one. Do GS1000L's come with them? The kid told me it never had one

Yes....every bike has a side stand. Lay down and look under the left side of the frame where one typically would be and youll find the hard points to bolt one on. What you need is a side stand and spring and the two bolts that hold it on.

It probably never did have one from whenever "owner X " decided it wasn't needed and took it off.

Yes, they come with one. Sounds like the PO either took it off or bought it without one. I just found a like new side stand on ebay to replace my aged side stand for a good price. You should be able to find a replacement on ebay.

Good to know. I didn't even think to check while I was laying under it earlier to see if it used to have one. Thanks guys!

Add in the parts wanted section would be useful also. Doesn't soecifically have to be from your model either..a gS side stand is basically a GS sidestand.
