Front brake cable guide, fender attachment

I'm looking to repair or replace the rubber guide that holds the front brake cable. It attaches to a hole in the front fender with a grommet like connection.

See item number 17 in this parts illustration:



Can someone identify this part and its availability to order online? It is not listed at boulevardsuzuki.com.

I have the part, but the rear flange has partially torn away and it no longer stays seated when pressed into the mounting hole in the fender.

this place is selling them for $5, item number 15. Those parts are the same for any GS bike I've seen so you can always try ordering from a different bike.

Geez, the more I read the more I have to ad to my post..... Just so you know, that rubber grommet thing is called the 'cable guide' according to the parts fiches and it's for holding the speedo cable in place not for the brake line.

The front brake line will break them . They're for your speedo cable only .
I repaired one with a short "fat" self tapping screw and a largish flat washer on the inside of the front guard .

Great information, I will try to repair mine like Simon has done, I had the same idea but wanted a backup plan just in case.

And just to clarify, the brake cable does not belong routed inside this guide (and will break it), only the speedometer cable does? That would make two cable guides for the speedo cable, the steel wire one attached to the wheel hub nut and the rubber one attached to the fender?

Correct, two cable guides for the speedo cable. The brake cable will naturally bend around the fender, you just have to put the brake line banjo on the right way and it make the line bend naturally. Although some specific models do have a metal brake line holder that attaches where the fender attaches.

I made a new one using a cable tie, a washer and some flexible black fuel hose.
Cut fuel hose to the right length(a bit shorter than the cable tie), feed the washer over the cable tie, then put the tail off the tie through the hole in the mud guard(from the inside) put the fuel hose over the cable tie tail, now push the tie tail back through the mud guard hole, back though the washer and into itself and pull tight.

I'm going to try to repair the existing cable guide as its mostly intact, but the DIY version sounds like it works well too.

Had to go double check but my brake cable does not route through this cable guide, just the speedo cable does. I remembered it wrong when posting earlier.
