I haven't ridden my GS in a month or so, but I did pull the (gel) battery and charge it.
I went out and started it up, and it ran like crud. I replaced the fuses the other day since they were getting old and rusty, following the 10,15,10,10,10 the manual gives, but I found bigger fuses (I think, couldn't read through the rust) in some of the circuits).
It'll run on choke up to 3000, and I can see fuel flowing through my small inline filter (which I've run on 1000 miles with no problems).
The indicator lights dim in relation to how poorly it's running, and I feel like it's something electrical. Maybe the coil connections or something? If I open the throttle just a bit, it'll rev up. If I open it a bit more, it'll bog. If I hold it at 2/3rds, it will not respond at all for a few seconds, then speed up or slow down a few hundred rpm a couple times, then eventually, it will rev up to 4k or so, and I release the throttle.
It does idle, but not well, and it's been dying at idle off choke.
I should add that I scrubbed the copper terminals with a stainless steel brush, and I think I did melt a few strands off of it by bridging hot circuits (hindsight: disconnect the battery to clean the fuse terminals). I don't think that hurt anything, but I don't want to leave anything out.
Ugh, I really do NOT want to clean the carbs again (2nd time in 3 months).
Where should I start? I reseated the coil leads and the plug wires on the plugs. I put 15A fuses in the other circuits (I think two of them previously had 30A fuses, but they were rusty and hard to read).
Carbs? Electrical? We do get a lot of corrosion here near the coast.
Cheers
PS I should mention that it seemed like it was cranking excessively fast at times.
