    Caliper bleed nipple seized

    Any good tips for trying to free a seized bleed nipple, had a bit of an attempt last year but it felt like a snapper so left it be, but I have since bled through new fluid to the other calipers so want this front sorting.

    Tried spraying it up with plus gas a few times, still stuck, going to try a bit of shock treatment tapping it with a hammer while turning with a ring spanner, any other things to try before the last resort of heating the area around the nipple.

    Heat is probably the only option, if it's all assembled.

    I put my whole caliper in a pot of water and brought it to the boil and let it boil for 5-10 mins and then plunged it in cold water, nipple came out very easily after that,
    I have also used a propane torch on the nipple with some success but you will probably damage the paint and need to repaint.

      You can always try one of these and leave the nipple as it is:

      79 GS1000S
      79 GS1000S (another one)
      80 GSX750
      80 GS550
      80 CB650 cafe racer
      75 PC50 - the one with OHV and pedals...
      75 TS100 - being ridden (suicidally) by my father

        Heat the crap out of it with a propane torch and hit it with oil while hot..its gonna smoke like heck so do it outside. Hit it a few times so the heat will wick the oil in. Now gently work it free. If it doesnt budge..repeat and try it again.

          That's the ticket! Keep tapping sharply with even pressure on the wrench (spanner) and it WILL let go. Just be patient! I've done it many times.

              Make sure you get the right thread if you go that route.

                  Make sure that you use a 6-point socket after heating/cooling/spraying with penetrant/etc. There is also a SAE size that is just a hair smaller that can be hammered onto the bleeder if the 8mm 6-point starts to strip.

                    If you haven't gotten it out yet, buy a can of AeroKroil on line(the only place you can get it). Its the best penetrating oil out there, and chances are, you will need it again down the line. It has never let me down!

                      In case anyone's reading this in the future, Suzuki GS brake banjo bolt threads are 1.00 mm pitch.

                      The OP is working on a Yamaha, which may have a 1.25mm pitch (I have no idea, honestly).
