    Progressive Shock Springs Opinions...

Spring options seem to be... 75/120, 90/130, or 105/150

For you guys with these shocks, which rate did you get, what bike do you have, and how much do you weigh? Oh, and how well do you like the ride?

So I take it the springs are on the stiff side, but okay.

95/140 or 90/130? This link suggests the later, but most info on the web suggests the former...http://www.progressivesuspension.com/pdfs/7100-105.pdf

I've got a set of 412's on the 1000G. I do not know for sure as there are no markings on the springs but I am guess they are the 90/130's as they came with those a lot (I bought them from someone else). I weight 170lbs. I have to dial them all the way in or the bike doesn't handle as well as it should up front and I ride aggressive with it at times. If it's just me on the bike and they are dialed all the way in they perform fine but for two up they are far too soft. For moderate riding I think the 90's would do just fine. I am going to replace the springs for the 105's at some point. Generally I find the 90/130's too soft for this set up. I had a set of Redwing shocks with 105/150 progressive springs on my old 79' 850 and they were perfect, for both single and double riding.

I weigh, um... a lot. About 20 stone. And I tend to motivate rather expeditiously.

I got the Progressive shocks with the heavy-duty springs. (105/150, or something like that) Still not stiff enough -- I needed max preload by myself.

So I did a little research and found that Progressive makes a 120/170 spring for 12 series shocks on a Kawasaki Voyager. Ordered a set, and all is bliss. By myself, I put them in the first or second preload position. 2-up, they go in 4 or 5.

The right answer for you will depend on your gravitational attraction and your preferred velocity range. Progressive's recommendations tend to be biased toward a soft and smooth solo ride, so if you ever carry luggage and/or a passenger, and/or you like to step along briskly, lean toward the firmer springs.

I've got the 105/150 on the GS, I weighted about 235 when I installed them. The ride is comfortable for me.

                Thanks for the input guys.

Need shocks for my KZ750 project. Oddly, Progressive recommends 75/120 springs for the KZ650 but 90/130 for the 750 (which is basically the same bike, just bored out). I weigh about 190 lbs, but plan to loose about 20 SOON. I'm not an aggressive rider anymore so leaning toward the softer springs. Not sure though.

If you're planning any 2-up riding at all, I'd lean toward the slightly stiffer springs.

I used to have the 95/140's (that was the old spec, they don't make those any more) on my Skunk. I also tried the 105/150 - way too hard.

I would go with the 90/130's if it was me.
