    Jumpy speedometer

    1981 GS650GL, stock

Today while riding back to work from lunch my speedometer needle began bouncing or jumping. During the first leg of the trip it was fine. I was riding along in 3rd gear at about 90kph. I stopped at a light, turned right and went back up to 90 in 3rd. As I was cruising along the speedometer needle was bouncing up and down between 85 and 95. As I slowed the bouncing slowed as well, but it was still slightly evident at 60-65kph. This hasn't happened before. Thoughts?

Most speedo issues are down to the cable. Make sure it's routed correctly and well lubed.

Skinner: what did you discover? Did you get the problem fixed?
