    81GS650L Mystery Parts

Reinstalled the air box and carburetors today after doing a full tear down, cleaning, and o-ring replacement for the carburetors. All of these parts and the head cover were removed by the PO when I purchased the bike, so I have not seen where some of the pieces go. I have two parts that were left in the parts box after today's work.

Can't figure out from the parts fiche or manual where these might go. Plastic cover probably not a big deal, but a bolt that size seems significant.

The bolt has a 14mm head.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Dave P

    Tool tray. It's upside down.

    The bolt could be anything.

Too bad they didn't include the tools...

Can't see where a bolt this size would be needed with the components that they had removed.

That bolt looks like it might be big enough for brake caliper mounting duty...

Number 15 here would be about that size: http://www.partsoutlaw.com/oemparts/...g-stem-model-x
You might just want to make sure that they are both installed and tight.

Not a stem bolt, but very close to the one you indicated. On the bike, those bolts are painted black and most other bolts on the bike are a plain head or a large number in the middle of the head.

This one is probably an aftermarket bolt. Approximately 10mm x 63mm. There are small markings on the head. Head markings: F S on the top and F593-C on the bottom which would be an ASTM SS bolt.

Could have just been mixed up in the PO's garage. I was short a couple of bolts that should have been provided too.
