    Replace camchain or not

Hi All, I've got my (GS550ET 1980) engine with the head and barrels off for a top end rebuild. It's done 58k miles. My question is should I replace the camchain whilst it's down this far..? There was no problem with it before and with a few bikes, the mileage is not going to be high once rebuilt.
My hesitation is because I would have to cut the existing chain and link it to the new one then feed it through with the always present danger of losing it and having to split the cases.
My instinct is to leave well alone....if it ain't broke etc.
    Opinions please....

Leave it alone if it's fine.

Hi, There is a measurement in the manual as to whether to replace the camchain. It could be stretched.

I'd just swap a new engine in rather than replace the chain. Too much work.
