how do you check gs850gl secondary drive oil?

Ok...how do you check the oil level in the secondary drive on the gs850gl. Im assuming it's the cap on top of the case on the left hand side, but there is no dipstick or window....sooo???

Take the small side cover off and you will see a small 6mm bolt that is the site level indicator. While you are at it, just drain the old nasty oil out and replace it with some GL-5 spec. 75W-140 synthetic gear oil.
Between the secondary drive and the final drive you will only need a little less than one quart. Change them both and sleep easy.

There is a small screw/head to the right hand side lower down, when at correct level oil will weep slightly from here, look close I'm sure it says oil level or something in that manner, but seriously get a manual for your bike.

If everyone did that this place would get very lonely. Where's the fun in that?

Oh, we'll still be plenty busy.

They will have the manual, but still won't read it.
