Help me get big blue on the road??

Hello, name's Dave 30 y/0 and I bought a '83 GS850G in the blue color a couple years ago and the gentlemen that sold it to me referred me here when he did. Love this site and had an absolute blast going through all the info and working on my bike fixing it up. Rebuilt the carbs, air box, changed oil, cleaned electrical, and bought carb tuner an tank cleaner, and other random seals and things to replace as suggested while the bike's apart. Well, other important life things came up and I wasn't able to get her back together before winter and now I've completely no idea where to start with all the tubes and where the wires go and such. As of now, the tank, carbs, and airbox are off and I'm really hoping someone who lives near Rochester, MN would be willing to stop over and help me get going in the right direction with getting her on the road again. I will certainly compensate anyone for any amount of help with this, pm me or post on the thread if you'd be willing to help get a beautiful bike back how it belongs. Thanks

And I hope this is the right forum to post this under and I am aware that all of the info needed is on this page or Steve's somewhere but being that this was my first time working on motorcycle engines so any direction would be beneficial. Let me know!

Welcome. As for wires,tubes, etc head to this guy's site. Loaded with pics/info for his 1980 gs850 - have food and drink handy

Welcome to the forum. Feel free to ask away at any questions you have. Those of us who don't live anywhere near you would still like to help as much as possible. I have a project bike and started a thread in the 'rebuilds' or whatever section, that could be an idea for you to document everything in one place. I suggest taking some time to figure out how to post pics on this forum (I say that because it's not quite so intuitive and I forget when I don't post pics regularly). Pics are worth what they say they are. Anyway you found the right place, all the info you need is in this forum and the people who make it up.

My bike is an '82 1100g. The 850g and 1100g are basically the same bike with a different size engine, most parts are interchangeable.

There is tons of great info on BikeCliff's site. Also note that the factory service manuals are available.
