GS 1150 1984,, 31 years old ,leaky sprocket seal, BUT order a replacement seal and its 31 years old also!!??? Where can you buy fresh?? seals that arent so old? Thanx Mike

It may be a 31-year-old design, but I don't think you're buying seals that are actually 31 years old. And the last one lasted 31 years... -

The seal I picked up today was a suzuki original part and i swear it looks like its 31 years old, I am not even going to use it. Id like a fresh seal/ Might try what yo usugeested! Thanx MikeComment

Hey guys is this seal replaceable from behind the sprocket or does the entire engine have to be split to change it. Looks like some tye of retaining clip in front of the seal in the parts outlaw diagram that Chuck Hahn was nice enough (thanx Chuck!!) to send me. Yeah the new seal I bought fits tighter for sure but sure the packaging looked mighty old ha ha . I dont think the seal behind the countershaft will come out unless engine is dissasembled (RATS!!) was hoping to do the screw into the seal face with brass screws and take it out that way, now looks like lots of work might part it out and jkeep cases for my drag bikes. I cannot get the half moon shaped retaining clip out of its groove to install new oil seal. This clip sits in front of top of oil seal and appears to keep it in place. It sits in its own groove that is captive. Cannot figure out how to get it out. Old seal came out with seal puller but cannot figure out how to get retaining clip out in order to install new seal. New seal will not go in with clip in place. You can see retaining clip in parts blow up diagram. Any ideas besides just destroying the clip??Comment
