I've never done that before, would it make sense for me to just buy this:

or should I try to rebuild the one I have. The back tire I have is ready to be changed, I was going to try and get a little more out of it.

Don't buy that one or any other 82. Suzuki used a softer metal on the splines in 82. That's the reason you have this problem. Many, many different Suzuki bikes use the same spline. In fact, Suzuki still uses them on some new bikes. Look up the part number and cross refence it on Parts Outlaw or Alpha Sports websites. Then go shopping on e-bay. There's a bunch of them out there. Just stay away from the 82's!

Good thing I asked. The part number for the rear wheel is 64100-45820-291. I'm trying to figure out how to cross reference it now.

I ended up buying a complete 82 from eBay. I know, its not the best choice but it's complete, the tire on it has tons of life left and it was only $50 shipped. I will just pull it off next season and check it.

Good luck. If it's low miles you might be ok for a while. But it will wear too, all the 82's do.

It came today. Has a brand new tire on it. For $50 shipped and getting it in 2 days, it was a great deal! I'm gonna put it on after work. Thanks for your help!

Be sure to use a good moly grease on the splines when you put the wheel back on. That said, looks like the pumpkin needs a bit of work.

I just noticed, my old tire was a 130/90-16 and the new one is a 130/90-17. Does that mean the new one is wider? I put it on the bike, it fits perfectly and the test ride went great.

Is that ok/safe? The bigger rims fits ok and ride fine...
