420 and 530 conversions???
I am planning on getting a new chain for my bike, because I have no Idea how long its been on the bike. It looks in rough shape and I can see a couple O rings hanging out in place. Is it better to just try to find a 630 or to do a conversion to a different chain like a 530 or 420? I found where I can get a 530 conversion for 100 bucks, but Not sure on the quality of the chain. Any thoughts on what to do?Tags: None

530 conversion. The sprockets are relatively cheap. Z1 enterprises can set you up there with recommendations to maintain like stock gear ratio. Make sure you space the front sprocket out. Chain will be the priciest part. O-ring or x-ring both well recommended here.
Assuming you have the same sprockets on 81 as on my 83 this is what they sent me.
GS1100E - The following 530 conversion is a 2.78 ratio:

If you are looking for a little more bottom end rip at the expense of top end go 16/48. You'll get a nice even 3.0:1 ratio.

How do you know it's a GS?
How are we supposed to know if it's even a Suzuki?
The ONLY clues he gave were that it's a "bike" and it has a 630 chain.
Anything beyond that is pure guesswork.sigpic

Yes it is a 1981 Suzuki gs110e. I got the after sitting in a shed for 11 years and I am going through the bike replacing and repairing everything to get it back on the rode. I took the old chain off and soaked it, because a ink was sticking. I went to put it back on and I noticed a couple O-rings had broken and came out. This is my first gs and I am learning about this bike as I go. I looked in just getting another chain, but I found a conversion kit for 140 and the chain I was looking at was 110. So I figured I am replacing the chain why not replace both front and rear sprocket and chain for 30 bucks more. I just wasn't sure if it was a good Idea. I have a 420 on my 99 gsxr 600srad, and my 2007 gsxr 1000 is stock I like them both fine, and don't really feel a difference. I just didn't know if I could or should change this bike over and why. Thanks for helping guys Sorry I didn't state what bike I was talking about

Just add your bikes to your signature for future reference and you'll be good. As far as the conversion the 530 will certainly be lighter than the 630 but also cheaper and easier to find the sprockets etc when it's time to replace again down the road.
