Nope That isn't the sound at all. I did that test yesterday. And I could here a sound but nothing like that. I waited for the motor to cool down. Fired the bike and put my ear to the stator cover. The sound was so loud it hurt. The noise is definitely on the stator side of the motor. Now Have to wait to get it apart and check it. Very nice tip. Mine noise at low RPM almost sounds like a rod knocking, but it is coming from the middle of the motor not the front. I want to video it of post it on here just not sure how yet.

2nd the wait for the puller option. Once it arrives you'll be able to inspect it and determine what's going on. Might just be that the 3 screws that hold the assembly together have come loose and you caught it early. In that case you bought more then you needed. On the other hand it might also be more extensive damage that needs other parts. The OEM replacement clutch assembly doesn't come with all the clutch parts. It only comes with the clutch hub, the springs, the rollers and the drive gear. It's still missing the roller bearings, the spacer plate, the three screws and the engine side brass shim. If anyone of those are damaged then you'll be ordering parts again.
When the tool arrives, disassemble the clutch from the flywheel and post pictures of the parts. Pay particular attention to any damage that looks like dents in the starter hub, out of round rollers, damaged screw threads and unevenness on the surface of the drive gear where the rollers ride on.
Which tool did you end up buying?http://img633.imageshack.us/img633/811/douMvs.jpg

Darn, with so many daily riders it's hard to decide which one to jump on next.;)

I ordered the 30mm x 1.25 left thread magneto puller. I didn't order anything else. I know it sounds bad but I was given the bike and had not planned on putting this much money into it. I have bought. Carb synchronizer gauges. new plugs. new K&N air pods. 25 quarts of oil. 4 oil filters, new chain. New brake reservoir and levers, new chain, battery, a case up carb cleaner, new brake fluid, new ss brake lines, and a complete gasket set. Now that I got it together and running there is a nasty motor noise. My bother gave me the bike because I had to part with my other bikes. (Money) It is hard to put money you don't have to spend into it. I have to wait till have the extra money to order parts for it. Now to make things worse my kid's 4 wheeler took a crap today. It cranks and cranks but won't fire up and run. So I have to do that first.
