    Instrument swap?

I am curious, can I substitute Honda gauges for originals? I know finding an original, good condition 1983 GS1100 instrument cluster is as hard as finding the body of Jimmy Hoffa, and I am wondering if I can use something like early CB750 gauges (or similar) and is the speedo drive on my GS the same ratio as on an older Honda? Also, would the tach cable mate from the drive on the valve cover to the Honda gauge? I can fab a mount but I need to know if they will actually function? Thanks.
1984 GS1150ES (finally arrived, more to come...)
1989 Dodge Dakota (the perfect Oregon work truck)
1980 Sears "Free Spirit" bicycle (original patina and everything!)
1978 "The Executive" RV (vintage like its owner)

How can I be in two places at once when i'm not anywhere at all?

Can I double park in a parallel universe?

    Posplayr might have one.

I have an '82 (85 mph speedo) I'd let go.

2016 XL883L sigpic Two-tone blue and white. Almost 42 hp! Status: destroyed, now owned by the insurance company. The hole in my memory starts an hour before the accident and ends 24 hours after.

I have a really nice one still but it will not be cheap. 11,800 miles and very clean.

I say give it a whirl... You could also use an electronic tach and wire it up off the ignition coils...
There is always this option too... Brand new:

$120 gets you a complete setup...
Whether you are building a chopper or working on a full restoration. we carry the gauges and instruments to suit your needs. We have full-size and mini chrome speedos in kilometers-per-hour and miles-per-hour form. You have the option of a white or black face speedometer, and either use a custom bracket or your existing stock one. We also have tachometer cables and speedometer cables, in either black or grey.

But I would wander around Ebay First...

My 2 cents... If you have a CB cluster kicking around give it a whirl... I think they all use the same ratio.

Posplayr, PM me with price and shipping. I am sitting down and ready for the price. Thanks. BTW, my GS has 12,500 miles so your gauges will match pretty closely. Also remember that I am a starving student (at 61 no less) so try to be kind.
