Left side under the seat in the grab rail is a key hole for the helmet lock. Turning it one way opens the helmet lock, other way unlatches the seat. Go gently, as they can become stiff over time.
No need to take the panels off.

When consulting the magic 8 ball for advice, one must first ask it "will your answers be accurate?"

No key needed really. Just look under side rail for plastic piece that moves when the key does turn. You can easily pull it by fingertips Dragbike guys showed me this one years ago. Been doing it ever since at this point I don't even know if my seat key lock works
