    Oil behind gear selector switch

While trying to determine why I still have an oil leak behind the sprocket cover, I found oil in the slot where the gear selector switch sits. Is oil supposed to be on the outside of that slot as in this picture or should it be completely dry there?

I will say I don't have an o-ring directly behind the switch. After looking at the fiche before posting this, there seems like there should be one but is that ring on the switch or behind it in the case?

You need the oring that goes there. I have some somewhere but you can take the indicator to a hardware specialist store that has orings & get one that will work.

Just be aware it's a small section O ring - maybe 1.0 or 1.2mm. The occasional broken neutral switch i've seen has usually been caused by someone using too thick an O ring and tightening the switch hard down on it...

Thanks Tom. I stopped into Middletown Cycle today and paid the $2.08 to get it here by the end of the week. It's actually still used on bikes up through 2013 but not something they keep in stock so I'll put it in on my birthday Saturday.
