Are GS750 instrument clusters interchangeable?

I have an 82 GS750E with a pretty busted instrument panel. I'm wondering about the similarities/differences between the years of GS750s and whether it would be possible to do something like place a cluster from an 81 on my 82. The 82 ones don't seem to pop up on ebay as often as the other years' models.

I've found them not to be interchangeable...well, at least the "E" didn't fit my "T". When I tried to replace them individually, it didn't work either.

After looking at a variety, the only ones that seem real similar to the 82 GS750 is the 81 GS1100 or so. Just has a couple more lights, but I wonder if that equates to different connectors.
