I have a clear hose hanging down near the chain coming from airbox/battery vicinity. Bike is running perfectly fine. Any ideas what it is before I take it apart?

Maybe a battery vent hose? -
Could be the battery overflow/vent tube.Ed

The last two bikes I've had don't even have that tube since they were sealed agm batteries. Maybe it came loose and is about to fall off if you didn't notice it before now.Comment

That tube is coming from the bottom of the airbox. It's there in case of fuel overflow...it will have an exit.

Ed, some motorcycle batteries in fact have a vent tube. True the new sealed AGM (Absorbed Glass Mat) batteries do not have the vent tube. Ed, in the future could you not reply to a post you obviously no nothing about. I know it's fun for you to reply, but maybe try sitting on your hand now and then. I've just re-installed the (clear) battery vent tube on my 550. Not sure I'll need it, as I'll probably go with an AGM battery, but it's there just in case.1980 GS550ETComment

Sorry Ed but Yes, the original battery box has a vent tube for acid overflow. OP, you don't say what bike you have but here's one from the 81 550L (numbers 5 and 15 are the vent hoses)
