New 530 chain doesn't fit?

I miscounted on a chain a while ago and may still have it in the scrap bin. Brand new and cut off 1 too many links. I got a 120 link off Ebay and the 1000 takes 96. Counted and cut....1 too many that is.

If I have it and you want chunk let me know. No worries with another master link 3 or 4 links part in my opinion. Let me know if thats how you want to go and I will take dig and get back to you.

I got a 17 tooth front and a 48 tooth rear with a 114 link and a master link for a total of 115 link 530 conversion from Z1 several years ago for my Gs1000

I run 18/47 sprockets with 530 on my GS1000, drops the revs when cruising about 85mph. Get a smaller rear sprocket.

As mentioned above, you can't run an odd number of links. The master link has to go between two similar links, meaning you start with an odd number of links and the master link brings the total to an even number.

If you bought a 114 link chain, it came with 113 links plus the master.

I have to jump in here. All this talk of 115 links or 116 links is a little odd as chains only come in even numbered sizes. Granted a raw chain out of the box is an odd number of links but not much good until you add the master link which now makes it and even number of links. So when the chain is installed on the bike it will have an even number of links. So if the actual nominal calculation comes out 115 links you have to decide to buy either 114 link chain or 116 link chain.

Reading down this thread, I was amazed to see it took 15 posts for someone to mention this... ain't no such thing as a motorcycle chain with an odd number of links.

A second riveted master link shouldn't cause any problems. I wouldn't try it with a clip master.
