Hi I am going to tour Portugal in July for ten days so will be clocking up mileage what's the general opinion
of running the oil to three thousand miles?

Do it, don't worry about a 3000 mile oil change, she can handle it

I would rather trust my bike to a technician that reads the service manual than some backyardigan that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix things. -
I only change my oil at 3000 isn't that OEM suggested interval?1983 GS 550 LD

IMHO the longer runs are easier on the oil and I would let it run to 3000 on mineral oil, longer on a synthetic, if away from home.97 R1100R

I agree, 3000 miles will be a piece of cake.
If you are worried about it at all, use synthetic oil.
