Basic tool kit. Where should it go?

I want to put together a basic tool kit that lives in the bike. I have an idea of what tools I would include my question is more where should it go? Originally I was going to put it in that tiny tail section but after doing some online searching and some staring at the parts fiche on bike bandit I realized there is a tray that I think is missing? Here is a picture of under my seat. Is there suppose to be a tray there?

Yep, there is a holder that clips in there. Look at this parts fiche, the holder is #16 (hard to read), the tools are #17.

I might have one, if you want me to look.

I've seen some for sale on Ebay. I wonder if it's something I could just make myself.

Making something myself was what I had in mind as well. I have some awesome velcro straps about 4 inches long. Keeping my eyes open for some kind of zippered pouch I can velcro to the side rails above the battery.

Roger, is that from your '83 or an earlier bike? The one shown in the fiche does not have the flap that goes over the battery, which makes me think that is for an '80/'81.

Oh man, I think this bike keeps lying about it's age.

In another thread in the Appearance forum, the OP said he needed to change his sig from 82 to 81.
