Sending my fork inner tubes to be re-chromed does anybody know if the piston at the bottom of the tube needs to be removed and if so how do I remove it.It's part number 21 in partzilla.com diagram.Conan

Yes, it likely needs to come out, for proper cleaning and prep.
To remove it, look in the end of the fork tube, you will see a socket-head screw (also known as Allen-head screws). An air impact removes it nicely, or you will need to fabricate a tool that incorporates some all-thread rod and a few nuts that measure 19mm (I think) across the flats.
