    Disassembling instrument cluster

The trip odometer on my 82 1100EZ failed to reset at my last gas stop and doesn't want to advance. Was working fine prior to the attempt to reset it. I couldn't find instructions for disassembling the instrument cluster in the manual. Any tips??? Looks like there are 4 rubber covers on the lower/back half that probably cover screws? I'm hoping that taking off the upper half (covering the speedo/tach) will allow me to lubricate the mechanism and getting working again.

Once the speedo and tach are seperated from the housing and any mounts youll pry up the crimp holding the bezel on ad then have access to the inside of the gauges. See the thread linked her for pictures.

remove the bezel and then remove the two screws at the back of the bowl ...housing...that holds the gears in and slide the guts out.

Its been years since I opened it, but the 82/83 1100e is a single cluster screwed together, no separate gauges with crimped rings to fight with. Once the cluster is off take out the screws and remove the back.

Memory gets foggy at this point, but I think the gauges are screwed to the front half of the cluster.

Thanks. Yeah, I had mine off many many years ago, don't even remember why. And no memory of how it came apart. Ah well, another learning experience :-)

          thanks for the replies.
